🌱 Our discussions with our Climate Alliance partners at the Climate Evening made one thing very clear: Carbon footprints are only as accurate as the supplier data behind them. And that is exactly where companies have a powerful lever to pull.   The upcoming update to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) will set stricter requirements for comparability and data quality – a clear indication that generic data will no longer be enough.   In the packaging sector, the purchased goods and services category accounts for the largest share of Scope 3 emissions, making it the key starting point for effective decarbonization.   🤝 Supplier data – the key to better data quality Our discussions showed that companies can benefit significantly by leveraging their suppliers’ own decarbonization programs. At SÜDPACK, we are already developing a new database that will allow us to collect significantly more supplier-specific CO₂ data. This will improve the quality of our Scope 3.1 data and provide a robust basis for effective emissions reduction measures.   💡Our takeaway: Supplier data is becoming a key success factor for accurate, robust carbon accounting. The Climate Evening brought this into sharp focus, and SÜDPACK is actively driving progress in this area. Klimaschutzstrategie „Unternehmen machen Klimaschutz“ #SÜDPACK #ClimateEvening #GHGProtocol
