The #problemofplenty can well be a debilitating one, especially when you need to #choose from a wide variety of #careeropportunities and you do not know what will work best for you. My recent interactions with #students, #parents and #counsellors revealed some very telling figures: almost #85% of the young students choose their stream of studies and #specialisation based on #peer and #parentalpressure!! A considerable #80% make the #choice based on someone they know and admire!! And more than #75% take the more logical route of choosing a stream based on the #subjects they score the highest #marks in. What is very encouraging though is that almost #90% admit that they feel a deep need for #professionalguidance to help them make the right #careerchoice that would be best "suited" for them. And so are we willing to take that professional guidance for our children or are we too sure of our own hunches and gut regarding what best works for our children?
