The ocean doesn't need just more awareness days. It needs action! Scaling sustainable marine solutions takes time, coordination, and the right partnerships. Here is what some of our recently completed projects achieved. 👇 SeaMark developed new seaweed genetics and processing methods to turn macroalgae into food, feed, and materials that replace fossil-based products. https://seamark.eu/about/ Cool Blue Future built the frameworks that come before the farms: licensing, data-sharing, and an MPA stewardship programme for a first generation of sea farmers becoming custodians of the waters they work: https://lnkd.in/ebZwYcnC Blue Bio Techpreneurs equipped students and young researchers with the entrepreneurial skills the blue bioeconomy needs — through hackathons, mentoring, and a MOOC. https://lnkd.in/eQAEbHQu WIN-BIG project tackled a hard problem: women make up only 29% of the blue economy workforce. The project mapped gender gaps across all six EU sea basins and built capacity-building programmes to start changing that. https://winbigproject.eu/ And as coordinator of the EU Mission "Restore our Ocean and Waters" for the Baltic and North Sea, we look ahead. Last week, the two BlueActionBANOS project open calls for Community-Led Actions and Transition Agendas closed — with 222 proposals submitted. That's 222 communities and organisations across the Baltic and North Sea ready to act! https://lnkd.in/ehdVgZxm Explore all our solutions and project portfolio: https://lnkd.in/dMvgfTbJ #WorldOceansDay #MissionOcean #BlueMissionBANOS #BlueActionBANOS #BlueBioeconomy #SustainableBlueEconomy
