222 reasons to be optimistic about the future of our seas! 🌊💙 The first two BlueActionBANOS project open calls closed on 29 May, and the response from across the Baltic and North Sea region was substantial. 61 proposals came in under the Transition Agenda call, 161 under Community-Led Actions, spanning all 11 eligible countries and a wide range of coordinating entities — from commercial companies and NGOs to research organisations and local authorities. The most commonly cited objective across both calls: protecting and restoring marine and freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity. Evaluation is now underway and applicants will hear back in Autumn 2026, with selected projects announced soon after.
