❓ How do you make a plane invisible to radar?     Ben Rich: The Father of Stealth ✈️🛠️   Ben Rich, an engineer with a passion for pushing boundaries, transformed military aviation with stealth technology.   As the successor to Clarence “Kelly” Johnson at Lockheed’s Skunk Works, he led the development of the F-117 Nighthawk—proving the impossible was possible.   🔹 Career Highlights: Started at Lockheed in 1950, working on high-speed aircraft like the SR-71 Blackbird Became Head of Skunk Works in 1975, taking on cutting-edge projects Applied Russian radar equations to develop stealth designs ✈️ Delivered the world’s first operational stealth fighter despite scepticism (and a lot of push back)   🔹 Lessons for Engineers: ✅ Innovation thrives when you challenge assumptions ✅ Failure is part of the process—learn, adapt, and push forward ✅ The best engineers embrace "blackboard to battlefield" thinking—ideas must work in reality   His philosophy? “We were too dumb to know it was impossible.” 💡   Engineers—dream big, push limits, and shape the future! 🚀   Why tell you about an engineer from the past? One of the best ways to develop is to find a role model and research their path, mindset and habits, then decide what of those you want to develop in yourself!   🎥 @CombatAviationist   ----- Connect with me and enable notifications (🔔) for daily insights on engineering excellence, mentorship, and personal development.   Join the Engineering journey of unlocking your potential and experiencing continuous growth! 🌱   Found this post useful? then please consider sharing with your networks ♻   Looking for Engineers in your field to follow?
