Congratulations to The Plus for winning the RIBA International Awards for Excellence 2026! 🏆🎉 The award recognises inspiring architecture across 15 countries and four continents. The winning projects illustrate how intentional design can positively impact daily life and help shape a more equitable and resilient future. 🌱 One of the winning projects, The Plus in Norway, is a global showcase for low-carbon design and efficient construction. The 7,000 m² timber frame was assembled in just 15 weeks. Each of the furniture factory’s four wings consists of production areas – a colour factory, wood factory, assembly hall, and warehouse. At the heart of the plus-shaped building is a courtyard and visitor centre. This project was made possible in large part thanks to 1,702 m³ of Sylva™ CLT floors, roofs, and walls by Stora Enso. The high load-bearing Sylva CLT walls enabled wide, open 24 m spans for flexible spaces when paired with 650 m³ of glued laminated timber beams and columns from Moelven. 🤝 Developer: Vestre Architect: BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group Structural Engineer: Bollinger+Grohmann Main contractor: Ø.M.
