This week, our CEO Paul Lupo has been at Parliament House in Canberra, alongside our industry partners Members Health Fund Alliance, meeting MPs and Senators from across the political spectrum to raise concerns about proposed changes to the private health insurance rebate for Australians over 65. We’ve had an overwhelming response from our members on this issue. Many are deeply worried about their ability to maintain cover if the rebate is removed, their access to timely care through the public system, and what they see as a breach of trust by the Government. Many in this cohort are living on modest pensions and have spent a lifetime maintaining private health insurance, for the time in their life when they need it most. Any significant shift in demand into Tasmania’s already constrained public system would increase wait times and reduce access to care across the board. This is not a contained impact – it represents a whole-of-system risk affecting all Tasmanians. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gKVPXyJd
