🚍✅ Stirling Council’s in-house C60 bus service between Callander and Killin will be continued following a successful two-year pilot. The decision to maintain the service was made at yesterday’s (25 June) meeting of Council after a positive report on its performance during the pilot. The service, which currently operates five return journeys Monday to Saturday, and four return journeys on a Saturday, along the A84 corridor, has met or exceeded all key objectives of the pilot. Not only has C60 operated within its allocated annual budget, but it has also seen a steady increase in usage, including a 25.6% rise in passenger journeys made in the second year of operation. It is projected that the service will have carried close to 10,000 passengers by the end of this year. The C60 has also proved reliable and punctual against statutory targets, while disruption has been minimal with 99.5% of journeys operating. Customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive while ongoing engagement with local communities and passengers shaped a decision to add an extra return journey from September 2025, which has contributed to an increase in numbers. Stirling Council Leader, Cllr Susan McGill said: “I’m delighted that the C60 pilot has been made a permanent council-operated bus service. I know these sentiments will be shared by communities along the route “By any measure, the service has proved a significant success during the pilot period – it is viable, reliable and valued by residents. Whether it’s getting to work, accessing healthcare, leisure or travelling to school, the C60 is a sustainable lifeline service for residents in these rural communities. “A key part of popularity of the service is the ongoing engagement with communities to ensure it is meeting their needs, which has led to additions to the timetable and a multi-journey ticket option. This will continue as we move beyond the pilot with options being considered for a larger bus to improve accessibility. My thanks to everyone involved in making this is a success.” Andy Aitken, Chair of Killin Community Council said: “We are delighted to hear that the C60 bus service has been regularised as a permanent part of northwest Stirling's transport infrastructure. “This is great news, and a vindication for all the many constituents who have given such amazing support to this project from the outset. “We would also like to thank Stirling Council, particularly our local councillors and relevant officers who have supported and promoted this project. We look forward to the continued growth and development of the C60 service in the future.” The decision on the C60 comes on the back of several major announcements on the expansion of Stirling Council in-house public transport. This includes the news that the Trossachs Explorer bus service will relaunch all-year round as a council-operated service on Monday 29 June as a two-year pilot.
