Our team had the privilege of engaging over 80 student leaders from Commonwealth Secondary School yesterday in a hands-on workshop on steward leadership. Facilitated by our COO, Joanna S., the workshop showcased the stewardship values as well as case studies on steward leadership in action in schools. The SAC team (Annisah Smith, Cherine Ang, Jane Ang, Keng Boon Ng) drew from their own personal experiences as they facilitated a host of exercises to guide the student leaders to consider the connection between steward leadership and student well-being, how youths could embody steward leadership in their day-to-day lives, and how they planned to engage the rest of their schoolmates in steward leadership-driven initiatives. We were also glad to have had with us guest speaker Elijah Chao, Co-Founder of The Resonance Project, a youth-initiated and volunteer-run youth collective united by their shared passion for music and service to the community. Elijah shared The Resonance Project’s work with under-served and at-risk seniors and children, including their thought process when considering their purpose and long-term impact. This served as a current and relatable example for student leaders to consider how they too could practise steward leadership, in ways that they may not initially think possible. We are thankful to all the student leaders for their thoughtful and lively participation, as well as their teachers for their encouragement and support. The SAC team looks forward to engaging more youth in learning about the stewardship ethos and becoming stewards of our people, planet, and a collective better future. #StewardLeadership #youthdevelopment #youthleadership #educationforchange #stewardship #purposedriven #youthled
