My first Posidonia at Executive Integrity | B Corp® with Christopher Slade and Adam Thaxter and I wasn't quite sure what to expect.... What I got was four days in Athens that genuinely changed how I see this industry. I've spent 20 years in technology recruitment and maritime was a new territory for me when I joined Executive Integrity earlier this year. Posidonia was the moment it all clicked. Walking the halls of the Athens Metropolitan Expo, you quickly realise this isn't just a trade show. It's where the entire maritime world comes together — shipowners, technology founders, innovators, investors, operators — all in one place, all talking about the same thing: how do we make this industry safer, smarter and more sustainable? I had incredible conversations with people building genuinely exciting things at Ninety Percent of Everything (90POE), Benefit Software, DeepSea Technologies, DANAOS Management Consultants S.A., Wärtsilä, StormGeo, OceanScore, OneOcean, HarborLab, Veracity by DNV, Metis, bound4blue, SpecTec, SmartSea and many more. Every single conversation reinforced the same thing — maritime technology is moving fast and the demand for the right talent has never been higher. The At the Helm party at Barbarossa was the perfect backdrop to the week — a room full of the most connected people in the industry, all genuinely passionate about where the sector is heading. A few things that struck me from the week: ▪️ AI is no longer a future conversation in maritime — it's happening now and companies are actively hiring for it ▪️ The talent gap between where the industry needs to go and the skills currently available is real and widening ▪️ The people in this space are some of the most passionate I've encountered in any sector I left Athens with a much deeper understanding of the industry, a long list of brilliant new connections and a genuine excitement about the work ahead.
