Dex Romweber (1966–2024) was a guitarist, singer-songwriter, and roots-rock innovator best known as the co-founder of the influential North Carolina band Flat Duo Jets. Drawing on rockabilly, blues, early rock and roll, and punk, Romweber developed a distinctive, high-energy style that helped shape the modern garage-rock revival. Though never a major commercial success, Flat Duo Jets became highly influential among musicians, with artists such as Jack White and Neko Case citing Romweber’s work as a key inspiration. Through his performances, recordings, and role in the Chapel Hill music scene, Romweber is widely regarded as a seminal figure in independent American roots-based rock music. 📷 Flat Duo Jets at the Milestone.
