Over the weekend, our family rode our electric bike to Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf and met an inspiring puppeteer named Mr. Shiao. After being laid off from a government job at age 44, he searched for a new path. His initial idea was to become a saxophone player, but realizing there were already so many in Taiwan, he wanted to do something unique to stand out. During a trip to Europe, he saw a puppeteer perform and was inspired. He spent two years teaching himself and learning from mentors before launching his new career. Now, 22+ years later at age 66, he continues bringing smiles, laughter, and joy to families around Tamsui through his craft. Dennis and I got to give it a try— I chose the skinny saxy saxophone man, while Dennis picked spidey Spiderman. Dance battle, anyone? 🕺🎭 Before leaving Dennis asked, “Dad, can we buy the puppet? It’s so fun!” Sorry buddy... not for sale. 😄 #Tamsui #FishermansWharf #Taiwan #Puppet #NeverTooLate #SecondCareer #FollowYourPassion #Inspiration #StreetPerformer #LifeLessons #HrSteveC
