I spent the weekend at the Arc'teryx Lake District Climb Academy. We had great weather in a spectacular landscape with good food and a vast array of opportunities to learn and improve outdoor and climbing skills. But what I keep coming back to isn't any of that. It's how easy the conversations were. There was no performing or managing first impressions. There was no need to justify who you are or what you do before the other person relaxes enough to actually talk to you. Instead there were people who share enough common ground that you can get straight to the good stuff. That's rare. I don't think we talk about it enough - how much energy we spend in environments where we never fully relax the nervous system and settle. How different does life feel when we find the ones where we do. I've written about it in this week's newsletter - what the weekend reminded me about tribe, trust, and the people and places that bring us back to our true selves. Here it is. π
