Atomic Hollywood: for this week’s post, I pulled out an oversized card postmarked in 1957 with an artist’s conception of General Atomic’s soon to be built John Jay Hopkins Lab for Pure and Applied Science in San Diego. What’s perhaps most interesting is the message on the back written by a woman Jeannine, who was working with GA, to a friend who worked at the US Atomic Energy Commission. Jeannine reports going to a private club and seeing a bunch of Hollywood stars - Jimmy Durante, Betty Grable, Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz,, and Arthur Godfrey among others! #nuclearenergy #atomic #hollywood #vintagenuclear
