𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴? That was the challenge posed by Bonang Mohale at the 14th annual Frederik Van Zyl Slabbert lecture at Stellenbosch University. The Johannesburg Business School professor and Chancellor of the University of the Free State urged us to see democracy not as a once-off event, but as an ongoing responsibility. “Bad leaders are elected by good citizens who do not vote or who fall for misinformation and disinformation,” he warned.
