1974 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12 Group 44 Racing Car 🥰🤍💚 In 1974, Mike Dale of British Leyland Motor Inc. (the Jaguar importer in the US) decided to enter the aging Series 3 E-Type V12 into the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Class B Production Car championship to boost sluggish showroom sales. The Team: Bob Tullius’ legendary Group 44 Inc. racing team was commissioned to build and race the car for the East Coast campaign. Success: The car enjoyed a late-career renaissance. Painted in Group 44's signature white-and-green Quaker State livery and bearing the famous #44, Bob Tullius drove it to dominate the 1975 season, winning seven races—including the Road Atlanta National Finals—to secure the 1975 SCCA Class B Production National Championship. Legacy: Today, this exact historic chassis (UE1S/24250) is preserved by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust in Gaydon, UK. Engine: Naturally aspirated 5.3-liter (5,343 cc) Jaguar V12. Induction: Street-style fuel injection was replaced with four Stromberg or six twin-choke Weber carburetors optimized for circuit racing. Power Output: Stripped and tuned to produce approximately 460 to 500 horsepower (compared to 272 hp on the factory road car). Top Speed: Approximately 170 mph Bodywork: Features a heavily lightened, custom-fabricated speedster body style completely stripped of its heavy luxury interior, bumpers, and standard windscreen to meet stringent SCCA racing regulations
