Afonso de Albuquerque (1453-1515) is traditionally considered the founder of Portuguese India, an archetypal warrior (guerreiro). But systematic analysis of the seven volumes of letters he left behind (Ed. Bulhão Pato) reveal that he is ten times more likely to use the word for peace than war.
