We asked ChatGPT to generate a touch heatmap for Declan Rice from Arsenal's important match against Burnley in May. After two and a half minutes of processing, it produced a graphic that looked reasonable. Compared to the actual Opta data, it wasn't accurate. This isn't a criticism of the AI tool you use - it’s an honest description of what language models can and cannot do. Without licensed access to proprietary match data, they fill the gap as best they can. For most tasks, that's fine. For sports graphics where accuracy is the whole point, it's a problem. That's exactly what Opta Graphics is built to solve - trusted Opta data, self-serve templates, no design bottleneck, and multi-platform outputs at speed and scale. The question was never which tool generated the visual. It's whether the data underneath it is accurate enough to publish.
