This big blue valve is a fish’s best friend 🐟 Welcome to Lio hydropower plant in southern Norway. 💧 This is the site of an engineering first in Norway, namely the installation of this big, beautiful bypass valve. 👉 The valve’s function? To instantaneously release stable amounts of water into the adjacent Tokkeåi river in the event of a (rare) outage. This is critical to protect the aquatic life that calls the river home.
