Karen Liu, a professor of computer science and the director of the Movement Lab, is advancing embodied intelligence — a form of AI that enables robots and animated characters to perceive their environment and take action. Her work bridges computer graphics and robotics, translating decades of simulation research into real-world humanoid systems. At Stanford, Liu's lab studies "motion intelligence," building robots that can move safely, interact with objects, and develop general-purpose skills. Her goal: a "pre-trained humanoid" — a foundation others can build on, unlocking applications we’ve yet to imagine. "Using my role as a Stanford professor to share this very new, very powerful technology is a mission for me. This new world of intelligent robots will impact the next generation the most.," Liu says. #ResearchMatters 🗞️: https://lnkd.in/gefPuFGV 📸: Andrew Brodhead
