Summer is in full effect at St. Philip's. ☀️ The school year has ended, but the work doesn't stop at our community center. This week, we kicked off our Summer Camp - The Summer of Entrepreneurship! From June 9 to July 30, youth from across the DFW will join us as we explore business basics, develop creative ideas, and launch mini-ventures in a fun, hands-on environment! By the end of summer, our campers will gain the skills and confidence to turn their ideas into reality. Plus, have the opportunity to participate in sports, science experiments, problem-solving activities, arts and crafts, and team-building exercises! Last week, to prepare for camp, we geared up with training for staff, volunteers, and AmeriCorps members. They dedicated the week to team building exercises and training to welcome our campers this past Monday. We are so thankful for their commitment to spend the next two months with us as we prevent learning loss and spark interests in the arts for students. Special thanks to Colgate-Palmolive for helping to make our first week special with their Mobile Community Program. They visited campus with their mobile dental van that features games and videos that educated and entertained campers as they waited for a free dental screening. After the screening, children took home learning materials, toothpaste, a toothbrush, and dental hygiene instructions to help build healthy habits.
