In ESSTEAM, our Year 7 students have been exploring the growing issue of plastic pollution and have been challenged to design innovative solutions to reduce plastic use and address this global concern. Last week, as part of their exploration, the students had the valuable opportunity to hear from The University of Western Australia researchers, Clinical Professor Michaela Lucas and Dr Amelia Harray, who have conducted research on the presence of plastic in humans. Our guests shared fascinating insights into the types of plastics found in the human body, alongside findings from their latest research indicating that plastic chemical levels can be lowered in seven days. The presentation sparked curiosity and thoughtful discussion amongst the students, and we have no doubt it will inspire them as they develop their final projects.
