This Earth Week 🌎, we’re highlighting how St. Edward’s students are contributing to climate solutions, right here on the Hilltop. 🌱 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eBSQYqur As the inaugural Climate Resiliency Living Lab intern, Janiece Jefferson ’25 is helping lead research on how trees can better withstand Austin’s increasingly extreme weather, from drought to deep freezes. “I always wanted to make a meaningful impact in my community, and this project absolutely allows me to do so.” Through hands-on data collection and collaboration with faculty and community partners, students are building knowledge that extends beyond campus, helping inform more resilient urban forests across Austin. From planting 90 new trees to tracking real-time data, this work reflects the power of experiential learning and the role higher education can play in advancing environmental stewardship and climate resilience. 🌳
