Powering the energy transition sometimes means looking back as well as forward. πŸ‘€πŸ”™ In Christchurch, a building that first generated electricity in 1903 is beginning a new chapter. The former Museum of Electricity has now transitioned back into an operational role. As a Grade II listed site, access and preservation have always required care. Thanks to the dedication of the SSE Heritage team and the strength of local community support, the collection has been thoughtfully rehomed. Some artefacts continue to tell SSE’s story through in-house displays, while others are now safely preserved for the future. This change respects our heritage while enabling the site to support today’s energy system. It is a reminder that the foundations of our work still matter as we shape what comes next.
