In-depth: What does £29bn of investment in the UK’s electricity network look like? Delivering the energy transition is about more than ambition. It depends on good planning, the right permissions, strong supply chains and skilled people. In this video, leaders from SSEN Transmission explain how a £29bn investment programme is strengthening the electricity network in the north of Scotland. This work is helping more renewable power connect to the system and supporting clean energy across Great Britain. They talk through why this region matters, how renewable capacity on the network is expected to almost double by 2030, and what delivery looks like across 11 major onshore and offshore projects already underway. The session also explores the wider impact, from jobs and community benefit to how the RIIO‑T3 framework (the price control framework set by Ofgem that determines the revenue allowed for network companies) supports delivery at pace while providing long‑term value for investors.
