On Friday, we marked a major milestone for Ireland's energy future as Minister Thomas Byrne TD and local representatives joined our Chief Financial Officer Barry O'Regan at Platin Power Station in County Meath to officially mark the start of the main phase of construction. With an investment of up to €300 million, the 180MW power station will strengthen Ireland's security of electricity supply while supporting a renewables-led energy system with flexible generation when it's needed most. The project is expected to support around 200 jobs during construction and forms part of SSE's wider investment of up to €600 million in new flexible generation infrastructure across Ireland.
