Space is for everyone! This is not just a great slogan for NL Space Campus; it is also a belief that we at SRON hold dear. Working in space is not just a dream; it can become a reality. Earlier this week, SRON hosted this year's group of 45 NL Space Summer School students to find out more about SRON, our research and the space instrumentation we design and build. The national and international students learnt about the various space programmes, developments and research activities at Leiden, Delft and Erasmus universities, and went on a tour of space agencies, research institutes and companies in South Holland. Inspirational talks were given by our colleagues Peter Paul Kooijman, who spoke about SRON in general and space instrumentation, and Martin Grim, who talked about NEBULA Xplorer: a fully student-driven project to build a satellite that, once launched, will investigate how jets form and how X-ray binaries evolve. Last but not least, Frans Snik from Leiden Observatory explained how we search for exoplanets and biosignatures on them, and what we can learn from our own planet's biosignature for space exploration.
