From 1–4 June 2026, SRON Space Research Organisation Netherlands (SRON) and the European Space Agency - ESA (ESA) turned SRON Leiden into a hub for atmospheric science by co-hosting the international meeting of the CEOS (Committee on Earth Observation Satellites) Atmospheric Composition Virtual Constellation (AC-VC). More than 120 experts from around the world, representing major space agencies including European Space Agency (ESA), JAXA: Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, as well as research institutes such as SRON and KNMI - Koninklijk Nederlands Meteorologisch Instituut, came together to address a shared challenge: improving our ability to monitor, assess and predict changes in the ozone layer, air quality and climate forcing. Their objective is to enhance our understanding of the environment by systematically aligning and coordinating existing and future international space-based observational assets.
