Join SRON's Earth Science Group and help drive the newly funded COGNITO project. COGNITO aims to develop the world's first global satellite-based system to detect and measure carbon monoxide (CO) emissions from major cities and industrial sites. We will be shining a spotlight on global emission patterns, with a special focus on the iron and steel sectors.. As part of our team, you will: 🔹 Apply novel machine learning tools to detect CO plumes using TROPOMI satellite data. 🔹 Create a massive global catalogue of emission events dating back to 2018.  🔹 Track industrial decarbonisation efforts and see real-world policy impacts.  🔹 Publish your research in top journals and share your work on the global stage. You'll work at the forefront of atmospheric science, satellite remote sensing and machine learning, alongside a team of around 40 scientists, post-docs and PhD candidates.
