One of the most underrated grape is booming well in the South African soil. Guess what is it? šŸ· šŸ· šŸ· Yes! Its Cinsault. Cinsault aka Hermitage(SouthAfrica), being one of the Important grape for the crossing of Pinotage has been a great success in South Africa. The grape is predominantly used in red blends but also many makes it as a Single Varietal. AA Badenhorst, one of a very boutique and biologically farmed estate who is owned by Andre Adriaan Badenhorst who grew up between the vineyards of Constantia. As his grandfather used to be the Farm Manager in Groot Constantia. Their estate is settled in Kalmoesfontein farm in Swartland. Some of their old vines are also situated near paardeberg mountain. Ramnasgras vineyard, A south east facing slope was planted in 1950’s on a decomposed Granite soil. Hence the freshness & structure. Wine is Clear Ruby in color with a purple rim. Nose had a great intensity followed by aromas of Red Currants, Cherries, Rosemary, Clove & White pepper. Palate was dry with a striking acidity. Tannins were fresh and firm followed by a layer of fruit on the mid palate. Finish was still lingering with a mix of elegance and structure. Cheers! #badenhorstfamilywines #adibadenhorst #cinsault #bushvines #southafricanwines #sommelier #sommelierindia
