Big announcement this morning at #PhotonicsWest! We are excited to share the news of the SPIE Emerging Innovators in Optical Science and Engineering Scholarships, a $1-million endowment to support PhD students in the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s Optical Science and Engineering program. The $500,000 gift from SPIE is fully matched by a $500,000 contribution from the UNC Charlotte Foundation.  🎉 Presented by President-Elect Cather Simpson, the award was accepted by Bernadette Donovan-Merkert, dean of the UNC Charlotte Klein College of Science, on behalf of the university.
