Characterizing the ultrastructure of myelin in the human brain is key to understanding the neurobiology of both health and disease. 🧠🔬 Researchers from Douglas Mental Health University, McGill University, Centre de Recherche CERVO, Polytechnique Montréal, Mila - Institut québécois d'intelligence artificielle, and Polytechnique Montréal use coherent anti‑Stokes Raman scattering microscopy to examine the ultrastructure of the human uncinate fasciculus, a major white‑matter pathway connecting frontal and temporal brain regions. The study shows that this label‑free imaging technique can visualize fine structural details without dyes or destructive preparation, offering a powerful way to study brain tissue organization and changes associated with development and disease.
