Brand Marketing @ Zapier ⚡️ | Creating bold B2B campaigns across advertising & experiential
It’s brand campaign launch day! But this one hits a little different. Growing up, Paul Simon’s Graceland was one of the albums on repeat in our household (my parents making sure we had a proper “music education”!), so this campaign feels extra special for me. Getting to use the ICONIC song “You Can Call Me Al” in a campaign is the stuff Marketers dream of, but it’s all the sweeter once you know the back story. When Zapier launched our Super Bowl ad earlier this year, we were meant to have a famous Al as the star. It didn’t work out (I’ll tell you about it over a drink sometime) and we had to create a new concept <1 week before shooting. We spun up a new script in days, all about a company who thought they were getting AI to transform their company, but they ended up with “just a guy named Al”, who turned out to be a Zapier expert. Then the response we saw to that character was massive. Truly. The people LOVED Al. So, we had the crazy idea to make a sequel. And make it even bigger than our Super Bowl spot. And use the most famous Al reference we could. And throw in a few dance moves while we were at it… and now, it’s finally live 🕺🏻 Thank you to the dream team at Zapier, our partners Strange Family Studios, Even/Odd and Sony for helping us turn this wild pitch into a real (parody) music video. Hope you love it as much as I do 🧡 Shout outs in order for Dan Slagen for pushing us to take big swings, and the whole team who made it happen: Tamara Austring Ashley Hadeed Ryan Quindlen 🦇 Bella Rose Mortel Julia Jaskólska Beth H. Carly Moulton Myles Soderstrom and a million of others I’m forgetting.
