Our Quantum Optics Engineer, Srihari Sivasankaran, gave a keynote at ScyLight 2026 in Tenerife, Spain this week, sharing the latest updates on our SpeQtre satellite that launched last November. The satellite is demonstrating entanglement-based Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) from space to ground. It is a collaborative mission with UKRI RAL Space and builds on years of quantum research at the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT). An earlier milestone in our journey was SpooQy-1 in 2019, the first CubeSat to generate entangled photons in space.
