Space Intelligence was founded on a drive to develop innovative new ways to create accurate nature datasets. With deep roots at the University of Edinburgh, including our Chief Scientist, we've always maintained a strong connection to the academic community. Today, we are proud to give back by making our 2024 Global Harmonised Layers dataset freely available for academic research and non-profit conservation and restoration work via Earthmover Marketplace. GHL is a screening-grade suite of 30m maps covering land cover, deforestation, and aboveground forest carbon. It harmonises 18 open datasets onto a single grid with thematic consistency, ensuring, for example, that recently cleared land is never mistakenly mapped as forest. This is the exact same data foundation that powers our commercial NbS Project Screening tool. We believe access to reliable data should never be a barrier to sound science.
