War changes family life — and its effects are long-lasting. In such moments, it is essential that support is there to rely on. The “Protect the Children” project, implemented from January 2025 to March 2026 with the support of Swiss Solidarity and SOS-Kinderdorf Schweiz | SOS Villages d'Enfants Suisse, became that support for thousands of children and families in Lviv and Chernivtsi regions. Behind every number are stories of people who received support when they needed it most: 💛 16,458 children and adults received direct support 💛 39,895 people were reached indirectly — through professionals, educators, and communities working with children and families 💛 760 families received comprehensive social support through case management 💛 3,421 individuals received psychological and social support We also invested in those who are there for children every day: • 1,962 professionals completed training • teachers from 79 schools strengthened their knowledge in child protection and mental health and psychosocial support Strengthening communities was another key focus: • 2,668 participants joined activities across 12 communities • 8 local initiatives were supported • 1.2 million UAH was invested in solutions developed by communities These include new spaces, educational activities, cultural initiatives, and stronger trust and cooperation among people.
