On June 28, the IRS changes who oversees tax preparers — and not everyone's happy about it. The Service is standing up a Tax Professional Management Office, folding the Return Preparer Office and the Office of Professional Responsibility under one roof. The AICPA publicly opposed the merger, worried it could blur the line between credentialed professionals and uncredentialed preparers. The IRS says the distinction stays intact. Whichever way it shakes out, the signal is the same: professional responsibility in tax is getting more scrutiny, not less. The firms that win the next decade are the ones whose tools keep the licensed human accountable for every call — by design, not by hope. That's the bet SOPHICOR™ is built on. #TaxNews #IRSNews #EnrolledAgent #ProfessionalResponsibility #Sophicor
