When a European FinTech company came to us mid-hiring process, they were about to spend €541,440 on 14 hires, all requiring 5+ years of FinTech experience. Recruitment was slow, salaries were high, and the talent pool was shrinking by the day because every bank, PSP, and EMI in the market was competing for the same people. We suggested a different approach: hire people who are genuinely great at sales and customer service, and deliver the payments and banking knowledge through a structured, certified programme. Same 14 hires, one-time training investment of €70,000, and a net saving of €208,640. Beyond the cost saving, the company ended up with something harder to put a number on, a consistent knowledge base across the whole team, fewer operational errors, better staff retention, and a hiring model they can repeat every time they grow.
