It was truly a privilege to be part of the NATO Association of Canada’s Reception of Honour Gala 2026, presented by BMO. This year’s gala recognized the Louis St. Laurent Award recipients: Frances Allen CMM, CD, ICD.D, Blake Goldring, C.M., O.Ont., CFA, Blake Hutcheson, and Ms Rose M Patten, while also honouring Jake Rooke as Young Trailblazer of the Year; highlighting commemorable leadership across the nation's defence and security community. But beyond celebrating leadership, the Gala also featured an opportune dialogue on what Canada’s role should be in a contested geopolitical landscape, moderated by Murray Brewster, reflecting the need for strategic coherence in a volatile world. Events like this serve as a meaningful reminder of the significance of bringing together esteemed policymakers, experts, industry leaders, scholars, and emerging voices on questions the at the heart of Canada’s strategic future, and the pressures now shaping it. It was a pleasure to support this valuable event alongside such a dedicated team. Thank you to Robert Baines, Hon.
