Cavitation can lead to serious performance and reliability issues if left unchecked. It occurs when vapor pressure drops, causing vapor bubbles to form. When overlooked, cavitation can cause pitting damage to the impellers, increased vibration, and potential for mechanical failure over time. Catching it early is critical to preventing costly damage and maintaining reliable operation. In this study, AxSTREAM was used to verify cavitation prediction in a centrifugal pump. By analyzing and comparing the pump performance map created from AxSTREAM's 1D models with the results from 3D CFD simulations, the cavitation characteristic curve was plotted and critical points were identified. These points were then also compared with AxSTREAM's NPSH predictions to ensure safe, high-performing pump operation.
