At SOFIAA Health, we talk a lot about the big pillars of our work: clinical excellence, academic thought leadership, our sovereign tech stack and advanced data analytics. These are the foundations of a safe, scalable women’s health platform. But there is another pillar we treat with equal seriousness: culturally attuned design. For the women we serve, especially ethnic minority women with low access to education and significant language barriers, design is not just cosmetic. It is clinical. It determines whether a woman understands her symptoms, feels safe enough to ask for help, or can navigate a system that has historically overlooked her. That is why every part of SOFIAA Health is built with cultural intelligence at its core: 1. our AI/NLP questionnaire, designed to capture symptoms in the language and rhythm women actually use 2. our small language models, trained to respond safely and sensitively 3. our website, graphics and user journeys, crafted to feel familiar, accessible and non‑intimidating 4. our community‑tested content, shaped by real conversations with real women This work is led by two exceptional designers: Keshav Doyal and Neha Parekh, MA graduates from the Royal College of Art in Service Design. They are not only responsible for our outputs: they spend time embedded in the communities we serve, listening, observing and translating lived experience into design decisions that genuinely move the needle. Because for SOFIAA Health, culturally attuned design is not an add‑on. It is how we deliver targeted, meaningful impact to women who have been underserved for far too long.
