🚀 Excited to share our new open‑access paper published in @PLOS one, in collaboration with Sankofa Research. Our study maps the evidence on how people from Sub‑Saharan African backgrounds navigate European healthcare systems, highlighting where services succeed and where structural gaps persist. 💡 Key Insights - Administrative & Insurance Barriers: Complex paperwork and insurance processes often delay access to care. - Service Misalignment: Language barriers and limited cultural‑competency training hinder effective communication. - Group‑Specific Challenges: Distinct needs emerge in areas like maternal health and long‑term condition management (e.g., HIV). - Aging Overlooked: Only one study examined healthcare pathways for aging individuals in this community. 🌍 Why It Matters As Europe’s demographics shift, health systems must become more adaptive, accessible, and culturally responsive.
