Turning a second-hand mill into a innovative and sustainable solution.  SMS group supported Zhejiang Winjoy New Material Co., Ltd. in China by upgrading a Demag 6-high reversing cold rolling mill originally commissioned in 1988 for tin plate production. The scope modernized the plant into a 1250 mm wide 6-high CVC® breakdown copper strip mill. The work covered comprehensive mechanical and electrical modernization, enabling copper alloy strip rolling with exit thickness down to 0.5 mm and strip widths from 1150 to 600 mm. With an annual capacity of around 100,000 tons, the upgraded solution strengthens Winjoy’s ability to expand its copper product portfolio.  More than a retrofit, this project is about lifecycle value.
