Namaste, I’m Pascal Meier, and I had the chance to spend an incredible semester at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. While it started with the humble transition into a small hostel room, the IIMB campus quickly felt like home with its green surroundings, great food, and welcoming community. Classes were highly interactive, with a strong focus on case studies and group work, which made learning especially engaging. Being one of the few exchange students during my term allowed me to fully immerse myself in the local rhythm, from late-night study sessions to learning how companies operate in one of the world’s fastest-growing markets. What stood out most was the vibrant campus life, with cultural events and celebrations from different Indian states almost every week, bringing the country’s diversity into one place. The highlight, however, were the people. From late night campus walks to exploring Bangalore’s food and café scene, the sense of community among such ambitious, globally minded peers was exceptional. Traveling across India was equally eye opening. From busy Mumbai to relaxed Kerala and the Himalayas, every place showed a different side of India. It’s a country of immense contrasts that taught me a vital lesson: give it enough time, and everything works out just fine. If you’re looking for an exchange that challenges you academically and enriches you personally, IIMB is an unforgettable choice. Most of the real learning happens in the conversations outside the classroom, and that’s where the lifelong connections are formed. A big thank you to the University of St. Gallen and IIMB for this opportunity!
