This Sunday, I'll be running London Marathon and raising money for Mind. πŸ’™ This will be my fourth marathon, and my first full 26.2 miles since I ran Edinburgh Marathon back in 2019, which I also ran for Mind. It's fair to say that my running has taken a backseat in the post-COVID years, and I'm not 24 anymore - so I'll be taking on the race at 'party pace' (less euphemistically: I'll be aiming to just get through it). I choose to run for Mind because I - like all of us - have both experience of struggling with my mental health, and know and love others who do. The struggle of 'just getting through it' is familiar for everyone experiencing mental health challenges. For that reason mental health as a cause has always been close to my heart. And linking it to my work, we cannot talk about the planetary crisis without understanding the effect it has on our physical and mental wellbeing - and study after study has linked perception and awareness of the climate crisis with symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress and even suicidal thoughts. These phenomena are inseparable, since the climate and ecological crisis is a health crisis as well. So on Sunday I'll be running for all those who struggle, and all those who dedicate their lives and careers to support those in need. If you're able, and would like to support and sponsor my race by donating to Mind, who do amazing work supporting people who need it, please do so here πŸ‘‰ https://lnkd.in/e8MzJUc3
