At Dungowan Pumped Hydro Energy Scheme (PHES) in regional NSW, SMEC is leading geotechnical and hydrogeological investigations to support the design of a flexible, off-river pumped hydro scheme that will store up to 10 hours of energy. From complex terrain to groundwater behaviour, our team is helping de-risk delivery and inform resilient design outcomes that balance technical certainty with environmental care. โ€œThis project highlights the importance of understanding site conditions early,โ€ said Nick Poriters, Manager โ€“ Site Investigations, SMEC. โ€œOur investigations are helping shape a design that is technically robust and environmentally responsible.โ€ Learn more about our role in this energy project: https://brnw.ch/21x3MlA #EngineeringPositiveChange #geotechnics #pumpedhydro
