Tunnelling completion between Sydney Olympic Park and Westmead marks an important milestone in the delivery of Sydney Metro West, part of one of Australia’s most significant public transport projects. As part of the design joint venture with GHD, SMEC has supported Gamuda Australia and Laing O'Rourke through the design and construction of the Sydney Metro West - Western Tunnelling Package. Our work includes the Clyde Stabling and Maintenance Facility, associated dive structures and complex underground and surface infrastructure, delivered within a highly constrained environment. These achievements reflect integrated design, constructability-led thinking, and strong collaboration between client, constructor and design teams. Together, we are helping deliver world-class metro infrastructure while minimising disruption to the communities it will serve.
