Brazil has taken an important step in the modernization of its transmission system. The Ministry of Mines and Energy announced the inauguration of the first project in Brazil’s National Interconnected System to use FACTS technology of the Static Synchronous Series Compensator type at the Ribeirão Preto Substation in São Paulo. This is a meaningful milestone for the Brazilian grid. Through the deployment of SmartValve™, the project enables more dynamic control of power flows, helping operators make better use of existing transmission infrastructure, increase operational flexibility, reduce overload risks, and support greater reliability across the system. As electricity demand grows and the grid becomes more complex, solutions that can optimize existing networks will play an increasingly important role in delivering capacity faster and more efficiently. Congratulations to ISA ENERGIA BRASIL, MME, EPE, ANEEL, and all those involved in bringing this project forward.
