SMART had the privilege of spending time in Red Wing, Minnesota, this summer with professional musician and founder of Universal Music Center, Michael Arturi. From touring their vibrant teaching space—where local musicians learn from dedicated instructors—to joining professional musicians at outreach programs that bring live music to senior communities, group homes, and programs supporting individuals with special needs, it was incredible to see how Mike and UMC use music to connect and uplift music enthusiasts—young and old. This short feature highlights one of those moments—a community drum circle led by Mike at a local arts center that embodies UMC’s mission to make music accessible to everyone. We’re grateful for opportunities like this to use our storytelling skills to help nonprofits share their missions and celebrate the power of community.
