🌟 Berkeley SkyDeck couldn't be more proud to congratulate Alberto Sangiovanni-Vincentelli on being shortlisted for the UC Regents Innovation Award for Distinguished Lifetime Achievement β€” one of the highest honors in the University of California system. ⚑ Alberto co-founded two $100 billion electronic design automation (EDA) giants Synopsys Inc and Cadence β€” two companies whose technology underlies virtually every semiconductor chip designed today. From consumer electronics to AI infrastructure, the modern world runs on systems built with tools he helped create. πŸŽ“ He has been a professor in the UC Berkeley Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences (EECS) department since 1976, is co-chair of SkyDeck's Chip Track, and remains one of the most energizing forces in our innovation ecosystem to this day. πŸ’¬ As SkyDeck Executive Director Caroline Winnett put it best: "He has spent decades pushing the boundaries of what is technically possible, translating that research into industry-defining companies, and then turning around and pouring that knowledge back into the next generation of innovators. His contributions to Berkeley's entrepreneurship culture are as significant as his contributions to the semiconductor industry itself." πŸ‘ Few people have shaped both an entire industry and a culture of entrepreneurship in equal measure. Alberto, it is a privilege to learn from you, work alongside you, and cheer you on. This recognition is so well deserved. πŸŽ₯ Watch our interview with Alberto to hear his story firsthand (including the time his tools saved the Intel 386 chip). #Semiconductors #EDA #UCBerkeley #BerkeleySkyDeck #DeepTech #Cadence #Synopsys #Innovation
